ReadyLine Training is three practice tools in one app — Mayday, Size-Up, and Drill Deck. They exist to build familiarity and repetition on your own time. Read this once; it applies to all three.
1. Never use these tools during a real emergency
In an actual incident, use your portable radio and follow your department's procedures. Never take out a phone and never rely on this app on any fireground or emergency scene. It has no connection to any radio system, dispatch center, or emergency service and cannot summon help of any kind.
2. Your department's procedures govern — always
Departments differ in their procedures, radio formats, mnemonics (LUNAR, UCAN, Who-What-Where, and others), and SOGs. The content here is generic, national-level material for practice only. If anything in this app differs from your department's standard operating procedures, guidelines, or training, your department is right and this app is wrong. Train to your department's standard.
3. No tactical orders. No scoring. No answer key.
Nothing in this app tells you how to operate at an incident. The drills ask questions and start conversations; they do not give directives. There is no score and no "correct" size-up or mayday — a real one depends on your SOGs, your staffing, and the picture in front of you. Any facilitator notes are prompts to steer discussion, not authoritative answers. The right answers come from your crew's knowledge and your department's guidelines.
4. Voice stays on your device
Where a trainer records you (Mayday and Size-Up), audio is captured on your device for immediate playback so you can hear yourself back — that self-review is the feedback. It is never uploaded, and it is discarded when you leave the review screen.
5. This does not replace real training
Repetition on a phone builds verbal familiarity and knowledge only. It is not a substitute for live drills, hands-on training, or your department's program.
